Week 5: Twitter and PLN

This week Report & Reflection blog post  we will talk about Twitter and PLN.  As we can known, Twitter is a Social Network, Social Network Service and microblogging Service website, is the world's one of the most visited ten sites on the Internet. It USES wireless network, cable network, communication technology, instant messaging, is the typical application of micro blog. It allows the user to its latest news and ideas in the form of text messages sent to the cell phone and personalized website group, and not just sent to the individual. Twitter is a popular social networking and microblogging service website, allows the user to their latest news and ideas to form of the short message of mobile phone (tweets) release (push), can bind IM instant messaging software. All tweets are limited to 140 characters.

Sue Waters said that "Personal learning network has a distinctly personal characteristics, so it is very individual character. When creating your own PLN, the user must be used to decide what tools, establish connection with someone, how to learn, and when to study, etc. "Personal Learning network (PLN), is the application of all such as blogs, wikis, twitter, facebook,  networking tools created for the purpose of Learning Personal network, use of the Personal network can help us as a molecular study of the global community at the same time, to strengthen the communication with others, to expand our space and time and opportunity to learn and improve our reflection.Establish these contact, get a lot of knowledge, it may make us feel excited, but absorb knowledge and used for life, is the real purpose of establishing personal learning network.

What could Twitter or your PLN contribute to your work in building knowledge?
I think both Twitter and PLN are helps me to improve my knowledge, we are living in the networked society, we cannot leave no network, we can learn more knowledge through the network. In fact, in our reading a link on twitter, we will gradually accumulation of knowledge. Web tools created for the purpose of learning personal network, use of the personal network can help us as a molecular study of the global community at the same time, to strengthen the communication with others, to expand our space and time and opportunity to learn and improve our reflection.PLN build is also can expand the scope of our study group, let us can learn to different places on the Internet, the idea of different people. As long as we can communicate through the network knowledge.

How could you add this to your PLE? Will you? What are you learning about becoming a digital citizen or gaining digital literacy?
Fett Gail DE thinks, "personal learning environment is free to collect, publish, web-based tools, usually centered on the Blog, using an RSS reader and simple HTML collection of self-guided learning style."
Personal learning environment provides learners with not only a belongs to own personalized learning space, but also provides a way to connect with other learners, and makes the learners can share exchange together across time and space boundaries, make learning become more open. I will add this in my PLE
research train of thought for the center with real transition to the research train of thought for the center with system. From the research scope to expand, on the one hand, can be integrated with other learning environment study, at present about personal learning environment into the learning management system or the study of network course learning system has just beginning. On the other hand can go deep into the learning level study, and to explore its impact on learners' learning, and reveals the essence of learning and the function, meet the needs of learners and development. We live in a diverse world, need more understanding and learning, in order to better improve our PLE. When we are in the network learning and network knowledge classification yourself, actually we are learning about becoming a digital citizen.

  1. Hey Meihong,

You’ve provided great insight into the Twitter world – I’m not sure about you, but this was my first time “tweeting” and using “hashtags”, but I can definitely see how it allows you to expand your personal learning network, as you’ve mentioned – and in addition to the points you’ve given, I think it’s also beneficial to be using the hashtag ADED1P32 when posting informative findings that can be related back to this course. This way, all of the students are able to easily connect with each other and in turn, broaden their PLE. Also, to touch on your point of how this tool can affect who you are as a digital citizen, it is important to remember to use proper netiquette to ensure that you’re leaving behind a positive digital footprint when using social networking sites, such as this.

    Thanks for sharing!
